CSX Transportation comprises many former railroad routes and names. We start in the Cincinnati area, with some shots at Queensgate yard, and the Union Terminal. Then we head across the River to the former C&O and see action along the Ohio River eastward. One day is spent during fall colors shooting trains along this line including the Russell area and along the Ohio River. Then we sample a couple of scenes on the New River, and head eastward and visit more West Virginia, and Maryland locations. These include Point of Rocks, Harpers Ferry, and Cumberland. At Green Springs we see a staged meet of Amtrak and Potomac Eagles vintage Alco FPA-4, and a B&O GP9 and see lots of freight action on the CSX mainline. We also see a shot at Hyndman Tower, and the Viaduct Over the old Western Maryland from the Cab of the Western Maryland Scenics FPA-4 as it goes under a CSX train. Then we head to the south to see some action in 1992 on the former Clinchfield Railroad, including a couple of scenes at Copper Creek Trestle, an iconic location along the Clinchfield.

There is a nice selection of older power, as well as some power that’s less than a year old. Several towers are seen, including Covington, Limeville, Russell, Viaduct (Cumberland), and Hyndman.

Ok. In this Recent GSVP program, there are mostly supplemental scenes from other GSVP Programs that were shot from 1992-1995 making this program nearly 25 years in the making since greg Stated the Sony Betacam Era. One segment that was new to the show was an October 1995 Visit on the Cincy-Russell Line. There are bonus steam cameos of NKP 765 transformed as C&O 2765 in October 1993(See 2765 on the C&O), UP 3985 as Clinchfield 676 in November 1992(See Santa’s Challenger & Challenger Goes East), plus some early diesels on the Potomac Eagle & the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad during April or May 1994, the TTI in either February or March 1992 (which was an Independent railroad before owned & purchased by CSX in 1993), MARC Commuter Trains & Even Some Boats are included as well. Not To Mention Amtrak from “America By Rail: The Heartland” was included as well as one deleted Scene of the cardinal During the Milwaukee Road 261 (October 1994) Trip in “Great Steam Trains 3”.
