Do you like 567’s in notch 8? Paducah GP’s? Midwest railroading? Yep, you need to own this DVD, its in my top 10 for sure. Chicago Central was a very unique short-lived railroad, I can remember seeing them out of front window in my childhood home entering and departing Hawthorne yard. Colorful lashups of beat to heck GP’s giving it all they got pulling massive manifest across Iowa and Illinois. I wish he spent more time on the east end of the railroad….

A nostalgic look back a Midwest favorite! The Chicago Central was spun off from the Illinois Central in 1985, and was repurchased eleven years later. This video was shot in 1996, capturing the Chicago Central’s final days, and several fallen flag railroads along the way. Impressive lash-ups of GP locomotives … as many as eight units … pull CC trains across Iowa and Illinois. Shooting locations are well chosen to show the beauty of the landscape as well as the trains. A nice tribute to the Chicago Central!

Did not know that Illinois Central once owned lines in Iowa. I really love the massive lash ups of first generation power. A big fan of Plets Express as his videos are put together nicely. Plets Expres really did their research on these productions. I recommend any Plets Videos if you like informative Narration and good picture quality.
