Visit Canada from 1939 to 1973 from New Brunswick to Vancouver Island. We bring lots of steam and the early diesels in both freight and passenger service. Many maps and special diagrams were specially prepared to highlight the features in this video. The film sources are numerous from many of the most famous rail fans that were active from the 1940s through the 1970s. See steam, electric and early diesel action from coast to coast! Both in-cab and trackside action bring you great scenery and a nostalgic look of stations and tracks that are now gone.

Lots of history and the best locations such as Banff, Lake Louise, Kicking Horse Pass Spiral Tunnels and Crowsnest Pass in the days of steam and diesel. Also, the Pacific Great Eastern Railway, Grand Trunk, Central Vermont, Soo Line logging lines and much more. See Canadian Pacific, Canadian National, Deux Montagnes Electrics, QRL&P Railway, Quebec Central, Esquimalt & Nanaimo, Logging Lines, Pacific Great Eastern and CP Ships – all in one program!

Wow…… Canadian rail history from across this great nation. Charles Smiley has done a superb job documenting it, and the scenery is nothing to be disappointing with here. Fans of rail history….. this one is for you. Steam & early diesels, Vancouver Island, Quebec, Alberta, and the east coast….. + more. Nothing beats this great video.

Charles Smiley is my all time favorite producer. His videos are the most informative and professionally put together. I would call them true documentaries. If you like to learn about railroads this is the guy to watch.

What a great and awesome dvd to own. Visiting Canada from 1939 to1973, from New Brunswick to Vancouver Island. You see great scenery along with lots of early footage of both freight and passenger trains. Also historical footage from way back to the states era. Well worth the money.

In a world where you can find thousands of videos of modern railways, I truly appreciated the historical footage, dating back to the era of steam. It journeys across the country and shows the huge variety in scenery and operation that we still have today!
