Officially this is the St. Joseph Subdivision of the Lincoln Division, but depending on what end of the line you start from, folks called it the Kansas City Line or the St. Joe Line. Our guide, Bob Ernst, knew the 202 miles from KC to Lincoln as the St. Joe Line. We are seeing a still independent Burlington Northern in 1994. BN was hungry for power and so we see various leased locomotives head up many of the trains.

This informative program is narrated, and many locations and trains are marked with on-screen captions.

This program was shot using good “prosumer” equipment of the time, but is not up to the clarity of today’s high-definition video. It is however an excellent snapshot of an important time and place in the nation’s railroad history.

The video was shot in 1994. There I said it.

If you can look past the older footage this program still has quite a bit to offer. Narration is good, short and to the point. Sound is also good. Captions on screen detail spots along the sub you can still catch BNSF operating. Its interesting to see what’s changed with the subdivision and what hasn’t given the amount of time since being recorded. First time buying a Mokan program, won’t be my last.

It’s pre-BNSF, and Cascade Green never looked better! This is a nice tour of a busy Midwest line, with a colorful collection of Burlington Northern and leased locomotives. Between the narration and the on-screen graphics, there’s a good amount of information about the trains and the importance of the line. And don’t let the “video quality” disclaimers dissuade you from trying any of MoKan’s programs; my experience has been that the historical significance of these programs far outweighs any shortcomings you might find in the video.

Very pleased with this production showing the cascade greens at their best. Narration is very explanatory, aided with some screen captions. Well done. The overall quality is not that of what we expect today, but considering the year and the camera equipment of the day…. it is still a great production.

Great video showing the Burlington Northern in its hay day! You will see lots of lease power, and older units still in service. This a great dvd to have!

Again the classic Bob Ernst style is strong in this video. plenty of oakways are found in this show and a few lmx units and a couple other units. lots of cascade green power. the line is captured well. This is again a video I found at the my local library and it is certainly well worth buying.
