In the months right after the merger with the Santa Fe, Hal Pantti explored two of Burlington Northern’s most important main lines, the ex-Northern Pacific from Eastern Montana into Minnesota, and the ex-Chicago, Burlington & Quincy from Galesburg, Illinois to Lincoln, Nebraska. Both lines became major arteries for the coal from the Powder River Basin into the Burlington Northern era. While the BNSF was in its infancy, the footage that Hal shot is just about pure BN. In this program you’ll see a variety of the power that BN operated and the trains it pulled from a nice selection of locations!

I grew up with the BN in Iowa, and LOVE this video of both the BN and Iowa (and Illinois, North Dakota, Montana and Nebraska). Some great footage from parts of the system not normally covered. I highly recommend getting this if you’re a fan of the BN like I am.

A great view to own. Love the coverage of the American Midwest with many different paint schemes. Most of all….. a fine tribute to the cascade greens. The variety of power makes this video top notch as the BNSF was in it’s early days. Well done to the videographer and production team.
