Focusing on the beautiful stretch of the Seligman Subdivision through the Coconino and Kaibab National Forests, we see small Junipers and sagebrush give way to magnificent Ponderosa Pines. We took the dirt roads and did some hiking to bring you some great footage from such locations as Maine, Supai Summit, Eagle Nest, Williams Junction, Flagstaff, Riordan Summit (The Arizona Divide) and more! While the BNSF merger was just over a year old, no “pumpkins had arrived on this stretch of railroad. You’ll see an amazing variety of Santa Fe and Burlington Northern power and paint schemes!

Everything about this program is enjoyable … lush forest scenery, hard-working trains and a rainbow of locomotive paint schemes representing BNSF’s predecessor railroads. You’ll see trains at many iconic Seligman Sub locations, and at places that required research, planning and a good pair of hiking boots. Videography and editing are solid and creative. This is a nice look back at “the way it was”, and a fine companion to BKVP’s “Return To The Arizona Forest”, in which the impact of the merger is a little more obvious.

before my days of railroad video interest, I could only picture Arizona as “desert land”. Who would have thought that the state is blessed with forest regions like seen in this video. And the colours of the merged railroads that make up the BNSF is strong as ever in this video. Lots of hard working trains doing a great job pulling heavy trains in a very scenic region. This is one of the best videos of the region ever made. Excellent.
