Follow 40 years of Berkshires in four parts: Part 1 shows us the powerful and efficient Nickel Plate Berkshires in their prime in the 1950s, with plenty of freight action pounding down the NKP main line. Catch the Nickel Plate Limited too! Then follow engine #759 on a high speed run from Elizabeth, NJ to the Pocono Mountains. See #759 from the air on the hidden Western Maryland line from Thurmont to Cumberland and pacing across spectacular trestles. (Parts 2 & 3) Finally we get to see a restored #765 as she finds her running legs. In the finale we see NKP Berkshire #765 refurbished by the Fort Wayne Railroad Historical Society (FWRHS) in 1980. She hauls freight and gets a real workout on the T.P.&W. grade east of Peoria.

Narration. Sunday River Productions programs may feature Color film, B&W film, Music, Dubbed Sound and still photos.

Originally made in 1985, this program features 4 segments. First we see some regular action in the 50s which features not only the Berkshires on freight, but also some Hudsons as well. Next we enjoy 2 trips with 759: one being a 1971 trip to Jim Thorpe, the other being an October 1970 journey to Cumberland via Hagerstown with helicopter angles. Finally we see 765 on its freight runs when it operates for the Toledo pieoria & western in 1980.

Ever wish you could see that it was like in the steam days, when they ruled the rails, well now you can: great footage of the long gone Nickel Plate Road, now part of the Norfolk Southern system. See the classic Berkshires dragging tonnage on the NKP system. Especially interesting is the crisp vintage footage and the shots from the air.
